Global Tales & Traditions: Hispanic Heritage Month
Each month will feature a different heritage community, children's book, and applicable craft. In September, we will read Mango, Abuela, and Me by Meg Medina with illustrations by Angela Dominquez, and we'll be making papel picado banners.

Sexuality and the Civil War
In celebration of Pride Month, the Surratt House Museum will present Sexuality and the Civil War, a lecture by Dr. Matt Champagne. Learn how our cultural understandings of gender and sexuality changed during this pivotal time in American history. Champagnes presentation will highlight queer individuals who participated in the Civil War and share other interesting, lesser-known information.

Global Tales and Traditions: Muslim American Heritage
On Saturday, July 13th from 11 am to 12 pm, the theme for Global Tales and Traditions will be Muslim American Heritage. We will be reading Hana's Hundreds of Hijabs by Razeena Omar Gutta with illustrations by Manal Mirza, and we'll be making Islamic Paper Lanterns.
